Thank you for your interest in becoming a Seller on Cetsy.co. We would like you to be as
successful as you can be with your business, and as such, wish to share some top tips with you
regarding your listings.
- Remember that a photograph speaks 1000 words. That said, it is best to provide the
highest quality photos and from various angles. 13MP or greater quality is highly
recommended for online listings. Videos are also a great way to showcase an item such as a
car, musical instrument, etc.
- The best photos and videos are those which are taken in indirect, natural sunlight between
the hours of 10am-2pm.
- When taking photos, make sure to eliminate distracting items from the background. Then… make
certain the focus is on the item, and not the background.
- Make certain to be clear, concise, and to-the-point in your item description. And make
certain to fill-in the “item description” clearly for each item listed. Pay attention to the
item you are selling and describe it accurately, list the size, any options available, etc.
- Make certain to fill-in the “Shipping” details accurately. Cetsy.co is not a fulfillment
platform, which stocks your items and packs & ships them for you. We are a global platform
where you as a seller will have the opportunity to meet buyers from everywhere around the
World. It is for you, the seller, to know if you will be shipping your goods only within
your region, or if they will be shipped to other parts of the globe. If you are shipping
your goods locally, check rates with your local shipper prior to listing your items. If you
are shipping globally, we can suggest you contact your nearest Aramex, UPS, DHL, FedEx,
USPS, etc. or other express courier shipping agent and negotiate rates with your agent that
are acceptable to you regarding what you are shipping. Then list your items, only after you
have calculated your total costs & determined what your profits will be. Don’t forget to
include any small fees charged by Cetsy.co so that you cover “total costs,” and make the
profit you have calculated in order to succeed with your business plan.
- ALWAYS be kind to buyers. Without buyers, you would have no reason to be on Cetsy.co.
Always remember that. Be honest, provide quality items as you advertise, be prompt in your
work and order processing, and be compassionate and patient with your buyers. Remember, not
everyone is trying to cheat you as a seller. Buyers naturally want “a good deal”. But most
buyers, just want value for their hard-earned money. Do you not expect the same? Try
providing that high value while being polite, patient, and prompt in replying to potential
buyer’s questions…and you will see your business grow. Goodness begets goodness. Ill fate
begets ill fate.
- Watch your items and when you are notified, as a seller, that someone has favorited your
item(s), send them a brief message. Maybe let them know you have other items similar to what
they favorited? Or perhaps you wish to offer them a slightly better deal than what is
currently posted? Maybe you can agree on a lower price, then you as a seller will just
reduce it for them to what was agreed upon… prior to their purchase on Cetsy.co. In short,
make conversation. Do not be pushy, too insistent, or annoying. Be friendly, helpful, and
earn the sale. Do not expect the sale.
- Additional advertising is another great way to further improve your sales. In each
listing, there is the option to further boost your products visibility by purchasing
additional advertising which can range anywhere from $1/day for all or 1 of your listings to
much more / day should you wish to really boost your item’s visibility.
- Another great way to boost your item or service visibility is to post an item or 2 for
sale in your shop then promote your shop in the Services sections of Cetsy. For example, you
may be a “painter” by trade. So, you may choose to advertise your business in our global
“Services” section which allows you to perhaps obtain local work or even some distant work
away from home that you may be willing to do. You can also link your “Services” ad to your
Cetsy.co “shop” where you list more paintings/examples for sale,…maybe even digital
downloads of some past works which can be downloaded nearly endlessly.
- Regarding messaging, when you as a seller receive a message from a potential buyer, answer
the message quickly. Not all messages are good, but most are not bad and do lead to
additional sales. Should you receive a message that is less than positive, try to make it
positive. In other words, “when given a lemon, turn it into lemonade”. Maybe, the outcome
can be good for both sides.
